Town Centre Improvements

Market Bosworth Parish Council and Hinckley & Bosworth Parish Council have written to residents and businesses within the town centre to confirm arrangements for the upcoming highway works in the town centre.

Update 28.04.25

On 28 April Leicestershire County Council Highways confirmed in a Press Release that it has agreed to a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order on Market Place and Main Street.
The Temporary Traffic Regulation Order will be implemented for public safety for Leicestershire County Council on behalf of Market Bosworth Parish Council and Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council to carry out various highway works in relation to the Market Bosworth Town Centre Public Realm Scheme.
An implementation of a one-way system is required on Market Place between the junction of Station Road and Rectory Lane, and Main Street between the junctions of Station Road and Park Street.
Parking restrictions will be used when required throughout the works.
The duration of the restrictions is not anticipated to exceed a period of 10 weeks commencing on the 12th May 2025.
Signing and lining works will be undertaken from for the 12th May for 3 weeks with the traffic flow changes (one-way system installation) being implemented on the 1st June 2025.
Road closures for resurfacing works will also be implemented towards the end of the scheme. A separate press release will be sent for the closure/s once dates/durations have been confirmed.

Construction Programme

1. Installation of all new permanent and temporary signing required for the new traffic system, bagged over as necessary– Monday 12th May 2025 to Friday 30th May 2025

2. Changeover to new gyratory traffic system and 20mph speed limit starting at 8.00am. Removal of existing road markings, laying of new road markings, unbagging of new signage – Sunday 1st June 2025

3. Works to bus stop footway adjacent to market area – Monday 2nd June 2025 to Friday 13th June 2025

4. Works to widened footway adjacent to shops – Monday 16th June 2025 to Friday 4th July 2025

5. Works to triangular splitter island at Market Place / Main Street junction – Monday 7th July 2025 to Friday 18th July 2025

6. Works to Co-Op loading bay buildout – Monday 21st July 2025 to Friday 25th July 2025

7. First weekend of overnight carriageway resurfacing, Market Place, Main Street, Station Road closed with diversions – Saturday 2nd August 2025 to Sunday 3rd August 2025

8. Second weekend of overnight carriageway resurfacing, Market Place, Main Street, Station Road closed with diversions – Saturday 9th August 2025 to Sunday 10th August 2025

Please note that these dates are subject to change, depending on progress and site constraints.

De-cluttering, schools safety zone signage and disconnection of external sign illumination will be undertaken as the works progress.

Road markings will be carried out as soon as the resurfacing work is completed, the new parking restrictions will come into force at this time.

Update 21.07.25

Civils work to build out pavements, move the bus stop, and introduce a pedestrian island are complete. The next phase of works will involve resurfacing the roads, road marking and introduction of echelon parking. A traffic regulation order has been issued as follows:

Temporary road closures are required as listed:

Weekend 1: Main Street/Market Place/Station Road/Back Lane 2nd/3rd August

Weekend 2: Market Place/Rectory Lane 9/10th August

Parking restrictions will be used when required throughout the works. The duration of the restrictions is not anticipated to exceed a period of 2 weekends (Saturday/Sunday night) between the hours of 8pm and 5am, commencing on the 2nd August 2025.

Please note due to the nature of works involved there will be no through route for emergency services.

The proposed diversion routes will be signed on site.
