Coronavirus: Covid-19 Message from the Leader of Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council

Please see below the text of a letter from the Leader of Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council to all residents of the borough:

Dear resident

I know many of us are understandably worried about the current coronavirus pandemic that is dominating our daily lives right now.

I wish to assure you that we are seeking to do our best to continue to provide council services but our customers do need to expect and understand there will be inevitably disruption over the coming weeks and months as the council workforce undoubtedly will also be impacted by the virus. These are unprecedented times for us all.

National guidance means everyone should be minimising their social contact, reducing unnecessary travel and staying at home if you, or anyone in your household, has any symptoms. Please follow the daily guidance coming from the government and take extra care if you are over 70, if you are pregnant or have underlying health conditions: www.nhs.uk/coronavirus

Following this recommendation we have already cancelled council events for the foreseeable future and some meetings have been postponed or cancelled.

It is clear that the coronavirus pandemic is set to challenge us all in ways we have never experienced before, we will need to work together and help each other wherever and whenever we can.

As a council, we are taking every step to prepare and we will endeavour that the vital services that you rely on from the council will continue during this difficult time. I would like to thank council colleagues for their hard work and dedication already shown in these early days.

We are working closely with our partners in the NHS, Police as well as community and voluntary groups to ensure the borough is as best prepared as we can be for the further spread of the virus.

To help everyone we have a special coronavirus web page that is updated daily here: www.hinckley-bosworth.gov.uk/coronavirus

This page has information for individuals, business, community and voluntary groups and general notifications.

This is a rapidly changing situation so we will be regularly using our email newsletters and digital communications so would urge you to sign up for email alerts: www.hinckley-bosworth.gov.uk/emailupdates or follow us on Facebook or Twitter.

If you wish to contact the council I would urge you to contact us via telephone on Tel. 01455 238141 or electronically, all details can be found here: www.hinckley-bosworth.gov.uk/contact

We can overcome the challenge of COVID-19 by supporting one another, listening to government advice and coming together as a community. Your support, co-operation and understanding at this time is appreciated.

Councillor Stuart Bray
Leader of Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council
