The Parish Council has become aware of a number of issues in relation to advertising / promotional banners and notices placed around the town.
Advertising banners should not be placed on Highways' railings adjacent to the roadside such as those at the corner of Park Street / Main Street. Banners placed here may be removed by Highways or by the Borough Council acting on the instruction of Highways because they cause a distraction to drivers.
Advertising banners may be placed on privately owned railings subject to permission from the owner but consideration should be given as to whether the banners or notices could cause a dangerous distraction to drivers.
With regard to notices or flyers on lamp posts, it would be most helpful if the organisations who attach such notices and flyers remove them once the event being promoted has passed.
