Winner of many Britain in Bloom awards and well known for its characterful Market Place, interesting shops and popular eateries, Market Bosworth is a small market town that can trace its history back to a settlement in the Bronze Age. The Battle of Bosworth took place to the south of the town in the village of Upton in 1485. If you take a walk around the town you will find shields and Tudor roses as well as street nameplates decorated with Henry VII's dragon and Richard III's boar in recognition of the Battle. There are also three schools and three churches and with the Country Park, Water Park and Battlefield Line Railway within walking distance there is plenty to do for all ages.

Surgery doors

Surgery doors

Further to our news item in August 2016 regarding requests for automatic doors to be installed at Market Bosworth Surgery, the Parish Council can confirm that the matter was referred to the Medical Practice and to Borough Councillor Mrs M Cook. The Borough Councillor referred the matter to MP David Tredinnick, who contacted the West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group to find out whether automatic doors could be installed. More »

It has been confirmed that automatic doors will not be installed, primarily because the current access and egress arrangements meet legal requirements and because there is no funding available for such an expenditure.

Although disappointed with the outcome, the Parish Council is grateful to the Borough Councillor and MP for pursuing the matter and to the West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group for clarifying the matter. » Less
